Gently detangle hair using wide-tooth comb. Apply light oil to ends if severely tangled.

    Gentle Shampooing

Use sulfate-free shampoo. Wash in downward strokes, never scrub or tangle. Focus on cleansing the roots and scalp area.

    3

    Deep Conditioning

Apply moisturizing conditioner from mid-length to ends. Leave for 5-10 minutes for deep penetration.

    4

    Cool Water Rinse

Rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticles and enhance shine.

    Drying and Styling

    Air Drying (Recommended)

    • Gently squeeze out excess water with towel
    • Apply leave-in conditioner or heat protectant
    • Allow to air dry naturally
    • Brush gently when 80% dry
    • Best for maintaining hair health

    Heat Styling

    • Always use heat protectant spray
    • Use lowest effective temperature (under 350°F)
    • Blow dry on low heat with diffuser
    • Use ceramic or tourmaline tools
    • Limit heat styling to 2-3 times per week

    Extension-Specific Care

    Clip-In Extensions

    • Remove before sleeping, swimming, or showering
    • Store on hanger or in original packaging
    • Wash only when necessary (every 15-20 wears)
    • Brush gently before and after each use
    • Avoid applying products near clip attachments

    Tape-In Extensions

    • Avoid oil-based products near tape bonds
    • Sleep with hair in loose braid
    • Use only sulfate-free, tape-safe products
    • Schedule professional maintenance every 6-8 weeks
    • Don't pull or tug on tape bonds

    Wigs and Closures

    • Store on wig stand when not wearing
    • Wash every 10-15 wears or monthly
    • Use specialized wig shampoo and conditioner
    • Allow to air dry completely before storing
    • Avoid sleeping in wigs to prevent tangling

    Recommended Products

    Essential Products

    • Sulfate-Free Shampoo: Gentle cleansing without stripping
    • Deep Conditioner: Weekly intensive moisture treatment
    • Leave-In Conditioner: Daily moisture and protection
    • Heat Protectant: Essential for any heat styling
    • Argan Oil: Natural shine and frizz control

    Avoid These Ingredients

    • Sulfates: Too harsh, strips natural oils
    • Alcohol (high content): Extremely drying

    Troubleshooting Common Issues

    Tangling

Increase conditioning, brush more frequently, sleep with hair protected, avoid over-washing.

    Dryness

Use deep conditioner weekly, apply leave-in products daily, reduce heat styling, drink more water.

    Shedding

Some shedding is normal (10-15 strands). Excessive shedding may indicate rough handling or product buildup.

    Loss of Shine

Use clarifying shampoo monthly, apply natural oils, rinse with cool water, protect from UV exposure.

    Water, pH & Product Chemistry

    Ideal Water

Soft or filtered water (0–60 ppm). Hard water leaves mineral deposits that dull shine and cause dryness — install a shower filter if TDS exceeds 120 ppm.

    Optimal pH

Shampoo pH 4.5–5.5 (slightly acidic) keeps the cuticle sealed. Alkaline shampoos (pH 7+) swell the cuticle and cause frizz. Check labels or test strips.

    Protein / Moisture Balance

Alternate weekly: moisture mask one week, light protein (rice, keratin, silk) the next. Over-proteining causes brittleness; over-moisturizing causes limpness.

    Clarifying Cadence

Monthly clarifying wash removes silicone and mineral buildup. Follow immediately with a deep conditioning mask to rehydrate.

    Swimming, Sun & Environmental Protection

    Chlorine (Pool)

Saturate hair with fresh water and leave-in conditioner before entering. Wear a swim cap when possible. Rinse and shampoo immediately after — chlorine oxidizes hair and turns blondes green.

    Salt Water (Ocean)

Saline pulls moisture out of the cortex. Braid hair, use a UV-protection oil, and deep condition the same evening.

    UV & Heat Exposure

Prolonged sun fades colored extensions and weakens keratin bonds. Apply UV-protection spray, wear scarves or hats during peak hours (11am–3pm).

    Winter / Dry Climate

Low humidity causes static and breakage. Layer leave-in + argan oil + silk pillowcase. Run a bedroom humidifier when indoor humidity drops below 40%.

    Coloring, Bleaching & Chemical Services

Virgin & raw grades (11A–14A): Safely lift up to level 9. Use 20 vol developer, low-ammonia lightener, and strand test first.

Remy 10A: Best kept within 2 levels of natural. Deposit-only color, semi-permanent, or gloss recommended.

Toners & glosses: Safe on all grades — refresh brassiness every 4–6 weeks with a purple or blue mask.

Bond builders: Add Olaplex No.1 & No.2 (or equivalent) to every lightener mix. Follow with No.3 weekly treatment.

Perming/keratin smoothing: Only on virgin/raw grades. Never combine bleach + perm within 6 weeks.

    Storage, Travel & Long-Term Preservation

    Home Storage

    • Clean, dry, fully detangled before storing
    • Hang wefts on a satin-padded hanger
    • Wigs on a canvas or foam head form
    • Keep in cotton drawstring bag, away from sunlight
    • Add silica sachet to prevent humidity damage

    Travel Care

    • Pack in hard-shell wig box for flights
    • Carry travel-size sulfate-free shampoo
    • Silk pillowcase or silk sleep cap
    • Wide-tooth comb + boar-bristle brush
    • Small spray bottle for water + leave-in mix

    Hair Care FAQ

Can I use my regular shampoo on extensions?

Only if it is sulfate-, paraben-, and alcohol-free with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. Most drugstore brands are too harsh.

Why do my extensions tangle at the nape?

Friction from clothing collars, seatbelts, and cotton pillowcases. Wear hair up, use a silk pillowcase, and apply leave-in to the nape section daily.

How do I stop shedding at the weft?

Seal the weft edge with a small line of weft-sealer glue. Never brush directly against the weft — always hold the base while combing from ends up.

Are Suvita extensions safe to swim in?

Yes — Remy and raw hair tolerate occasional swimming when properly prepped. Avoid daily chlorine exposure and always deep condition afterward.

Can I dye or bleach virgin bundles?

Virgin 11A+ handles bleaching up to level 9/10 with proper technique and bond builders. Strand-test first, and use a professional colorist.

    What's the safest heat setting?

    Fine hair: 300°F / 150°C. Medium: 330°F / 165°C. Coarse/raw: 350°F / 175°C. Never exceed 375°F — always with heat protectant.

Why has my hair turned brassy or dull?

Mineral buildup from hard water and sun oxidation. Use a chelating shampoo, then apply a purple mask (blonde) or blue mask (brunette) to neutralize warm tones.
